Easy and Creative Halloween Crafts

Before the costumes and candy, keep your little monsters busy with these DIY ideas.

Paper Bat Garland

Give their bedroom a holiday makeover by draping this paper garland over their door frame, windows, or shelves. To make, download this bat stencil, then trace the shape onto a piece of black craft paper and cut out the bat with scissors. Place the stencil back atop each critter you create and use a bone folder to make creases along the dotted lines on the stencil. Fold the creases opposite ways on each wing to make the wings 3D. Attach each bat to a long piece of string with tiny black clothespins.

Pom Pom Pumpkins

With some supervision, kids can add pops of fuzzy color to painted pumpkins. Once they sort through an array of sizes and colors, attach pom poms in rows or clusters with hot glue (that's your job).

Paper-Plate Spider (with Shoes!)

All you have to do is attach pipe cleaners together by twisting them. Then, tape four to each side of the plate, bending at the ends so they look like feet. Finish with googly eyes, candy corn fangs, and mini shoes (we took these from Barbie).

Pumpkin Stress Balls

Don't worry: These rice-filled DIY pumpkin stress balls are super easy to make. Just fill up orange balloons with rice and draw on a cute (or creepy) face.
